ArcelorMittal accepts energy award

March 2010 - ArcelorMittal became the first steel company to receive the 2010 Energy Star Sustained Excellence Award, granted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. This is ArcelorMittal's third consecutive year receiving an Energy Star award. In 2009, the company's U.S. operations accomplished $18.75 million in energy savings.

"I am proud that our attention to energy efficiency has been recognized for the past three years, as the distinction truly exemplifies our commitment to sustainability. ArcelorMittal prides itself on producing safe, sustainable steel and our dedication to energy efficiency will continue to be a leading priority," said Mike Rippey, president and CEO of ArcelorMittal USA. "As an industry leader, we must remain focused on maintaining operational excellence while reducing energy intensity which helps our facilities be more competitive and maintain a cost leadership position."
