Materion employees help Japanese colleagues

May 2011 - After news of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Materion Corp., Mayfield Heights, Ohio, lent a hand to its 38 Japanese colleagues at the Materion Brush Performance Alloys and Materion Beryllium & Composites sales office in Tokyo and production facility in Fukaya, Japan. The company air-freighted a total of four shipments each holding 370 gallons of bottled water from Materion's Reading, Pa., location for distribution to the Tokyo and Fukaya facilities. Materion also made a corporate donation to the AmeriCares Japan Disaster Relief Fund and set up a system for employees to contribute to the fund. To date, the total corporate and employee gift has reached nearly $15,000.
