2011 CBSA scholarship recipients

July 2011 - The Copper and Brass Servicenter Association, Overland Park, Kan., awarded the first R. Franklin Brown Jr. scholarship, the association’s top scholarship, to Michael Palinkas, son of Edward Palinkas, an employee of Somers Thin Strip/Global Brass and Copper Inc. This award was founded this year to honor R. Franklin Brown Jr. who retired from CBSA in 2009 after 50 years at the CBSA as executive vice president.

Other students who received a 2011 CBSA Scholarship include:

  • Dana Aman, daughter of Joanne Jensen-Aman, an employee of Alro Metals Servicenter Corp.
  • Colleen and Kelly Bradburn, daughters of Kevin Bradburn, an employee of Alro Steel Corp.
  • Robert Frantz, son of Walter Frantz, an employee of Luvata
  • Jordan Heigel, daughter of Allison Heigel, an employee of ThyssenKrupp Materials NA Inc.
  • Alison Huey, daughter of Lee Huey, an employee of ThyssenKrupp Materials NA Inc.
  • Lauren Kelley, daughter of Cynthia Kelley, an employee of A.J. Oster
  • Courtney Maloney, daughter of Melba Maloney, an employee of Industrial Metals Supply Co.
  • Olivia and Rachel Shaffer, daughters of Michael Shaffer, an employee of ThyssenKrupp Materials NA Inc.
