October 2012 - Scrap Metal Services LLC, Burnham, Ill., acquired ship recycler All Star Metals LLC and industrial scrap processor All Star Shredding LLC, both in Brownsville, Texas. All Star Metals, a 2012 finalist for the American Metal Market scrap company of the year award, was founded in 2003. All Star Shredding operates a Newell 98-104 shredder and can produce 180,000 tons of scrap annually. SMS now has seven commercial facilities and three mill services facilities in the United States.
