Volvo to spend $520M to add second assembly line to South Carolina factory

September 26, 2017 - Volvo Cars plans to invest an additional $520 million in its Berkeley County, South Carolina, assembly operations, which isn’t even complete yet.

Now under construction, Volvo's Berkeley County manufacturing plant will be the global production home of the company’s S60 sedan, which is expected to roll off the assembly line next year. With the added investment, the company will install a second assembly line to build the next generation XC90, starting in 2021.

This new commitment adds to the company's initial 2015 announcement and brings the collective total to more than $1 billion in investment and 3,900 jobs.
