November 2008 - The National Coil Coating Association, Cleveland, is advocating the use of cool metal roofing as a cost-efficient solution for rising energy consumption. These roofs are designed to reflect sunlight. Coatings that provide them with cool, reflective properties are applied with a coil coater before cutting and forming. The prepainted metal can be easily shaped and formed without reducing quality to help reduce the "heat island effect," where urban areas can be up to 12 F warmer than their surrounding suburbs.
