Severstal makes operational changes

May 2009 - In response to current economic conditions, Severstal announced it will continue to idle its steelmaking and hot rolling operations at Severstal Wheeling Inc., as well as idle its cold rolling and coating operations. The company will also temporarily cease steel galvanizing and finishing operations at its Severstal Warren Inc. facility. The adjustments affect 3,100 employees, and both facilities have been issued Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notifications in anticipation of their long-term idling.
