February 2010 - Minimize downtime
Ford Work Solutions is a technology-based product line that includes the In-Dash Computer (pictured above), Tool Link, Crew Chief and Cable Lock. The In-Dash Computer has the capability to make a Ford pickup or van a fully functioning mobile office.
Developed by Magneti Marelli and powered by Microsoft Auto, the 4-gigabyte computer can open word processing or spreadsheet documents, generate invoices and perform a variety of other business tasks on a 6.5-inch in-dash screen with wireless keyboard. Load and back up files with the built-in USB port or SD memory card slot or send them to print on the Ford-certified, Bluetooth-enabled wireless inkjet printer.
The system also provides full Internet connectivity through the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network and allows users to access a remote office or home computer from their vehicle.
Project cool pictures
The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is the first digital camera with a built-in projector, which has a throw distance of about 10 inches to 6 feet, 6 inches. Its supplied remote control allows users to operate the projector from a stand, and slideshow effects add extra flair.
Key features include 12.1 megapixels; a 5x wide-angle Zoom-Nikkor glass lens; a 2.7-inch, high-resolution LCD; five-way VR Image Stabilization System that minimizes the effects of camera shake; a Scene Auto Selector that recognizes the scene in the picture and adjusts camera settings; a Smart Portrait System that provides a skin-softening feature; in-camera red-eye fix; and blink warning.
The MiFi 2000 packs the power of an intelligent mobile hotspot into a 2.08-ounce, palm-sized device. It accesses EV-DO Rev.A mobile broadband networks and can connect up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices. No additional software is required to connect, and the MiFi supports Windows 7, Vista, XP, Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher, and Linux.
The O.R.B. (Orbital Ring Bluetooth) wireless earpiece finger ring has an e-ink display with caller ID. Through Bluetooth technology, it will show the name and number of a caller. It can also display text message and calendar reminders and will vibrate to let the user know about an incoming call or message. To answer the call, remove the ring, and it twists via a hinged joint into a Bluetooth headset and uses bone-conducting technology to deliver high-quality audio without the discomfort of placing the device inside the ear.
The O.R.B is waterproof and comes in both men's and women's sizes.
Savi Office is a headset system that allows users to connect multiple communication applications and devices, such as desk phones, PC softphones and PC audio, with a single headset. Users can connect a softphone call on a PC with a desk phone call and then attend a webinar.
The headset comes in three styles, has integrated DECT 6.0 technology that provides an interference-free wireless range of up to 350 feet and is optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007.
Slim television, slim speakers
The Mythos XTR-50 ultra-shallow, high-performance loudspeaker is 1.5 inches deep to complement TVs less than 2 inches thick. The speakers have a hand-polished, aircraft-grade aluminum extruded enclosure and can be mounted either horizontally or vertically on walls or stand on shelves and tabletops. The Mythos XTR-50's capabilities stem from Definitive Technology's exclusive XTDD technology driver. Definitive engineers eliminated wasted space, optimized every part and maximized the moving surface area of the dynamic drive to shrink it to a compact dimension without giving up the high-performance audio fidelity.
