August 21, 2019 - Braner/Loopco, Schiller Park, Illinois, has installed a 72 in. by 1/4 in. high-strength strip shape correcting Slitting Line at Steel Technologies’ coil processing center in Ghent, Kentucky. The line has capacity to process 40-ton coils with mechanical properties ranging to 738 Mpa in gauges from .024 in. through .250 in. at constant operating speeds to 1,000-FPM. The line is equipped with a Turret Head Slitter with multiple heads that exchange in one-minute, power Clean-Out Looping Pit, non-marking Tensioner with wet and dry rolls that exchange in one-minute, automatic strip tension control, a precision CNC strip shape-correction Leveler, and the ability to change Recoiler IDs between 20 in. and 24 in. in 2-minutes. The new 1/4 in. line joins an existing 1/2 in. Braner/Loopco Slitter at Steel Technologies’ Ghent plant.
