AkzoNobel Coil & Extrusion Coatings to Showcase Proven Performance and Future-Focused Solutions at METALCON 2026

AkzoNobel Coil & Extrusion Coatings will showcase its portfolio of high-performance coil coating technologies for the metal construction industry during METALCON 2026, taking place October 7-9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

At Booth 817, visitors will have the opportunity to explore AkzoNobel’s industry-leading coating solutions, including the CERAM-A-STAR 1050 Select portfolio, featuring Select Expressions and Select Frost.  Learn about the company’s renowned Global Weathering Program, discover the benefits of TRINAR CORE, and gain insight into the IONOMY ecosystem, launched in late 2025 to support the transition to renewable energy curing.

Among the products on display will be TRINAR CORE, a standardized color palette developed to simplify color selection and improve product availability across the metal construction market. The system complements AkzoNobel’s COOL CHEMISTRY series, which is engineered to reflect infrared energy when used on metal roofing applications. Built on a high-performance polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) coating system, TRINAR CORE delivers a tough, flexible finish and superior protection against weathering. Formulated with 70% PVDF, proprietary resins, and ceramic and inorganic pigments, the coating is designed to meet or exceed AAMA 2605 performance requirements.

AkzoNobel will also highlight CERAM-A-STAR 1050 Select, Select Expressions and Select Frosts standard color palette program for silicone-modified polyester (SMP) coil coatings. By concentrating demand on a carefully selected range of colors, the program helps support longer production runs, reduce line changeovers, simplify inventory management and accelerate project turnaround times, while maintaining trusted performance and warranty support.  The CERAM-A-STAR Select Expressions, combines textured print technology with a high-performance SMP finish to create realistic wood, slate and stone-inspired aesthetic effects. In addition, CERAM-A-STAR Select Frost provides a soft textured finish that is both durable and resilient, helping to mask imperfections that can occur during fabrication and installation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view real-world weathered panels from AkzoNobel’s Global Weathering Program. The program has evaluated more than 100,000 panels through more than 30 years of exposure testing. These weathering sites support the assessment of coating performance across key measures, including adhesion, corrosion resistance, color retention, gloss retention, and chalking.

Members of the AkzoNobel team will also be available to discuss the IONOMY ecosystem, an industry collaboration designed to help businesses unlock the commercial, operational and sustainability benefits of transitioning to renewable energy curing technologies. Led by AkzoNobel, IONOMY brings together the expertise of leading energy cure specialists, developers, consultants, manufacturers and suppliers to deliver integrated solutions and outcomes that no single provider could achieve independently.

“METALCON provides an important opportunity to showcase the technologies shaping the future of metal construction,” said Brent Fletcher, Regional Marketing Manager, NAM. “Alongside our proven coating solutions, we’re looking forward to sharing more about how IONOMY is helping the industry prepare for the transition to renewable energy curing following its launch last year.”
