Basic Metals Selects CareGo to Automate New Germantown, Wisconsin Facility

TELIA-managed environment to support greenfield expansion at leading independent metals service center

CareGo, a provider of industrial automation software and control systems for heavy industry material handling, today announced a partnership with Basic Metals, Inc., a leading independent supplier of aluminum, stainless, and carbon steel, to deploy a TELIA-managed environment as part of Basic Metals' greenfield facility expansion in Germantown, Wisconsin.

The agreement marks a significant milestone for both companies. Basic Metals, which has experienced continued growth, is expanding its Germantown headquarters with a new 42,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to meet increasing customer demand. CareGo's TELIA system will be integrated into the new facility from the ground up, optimizing storage density and operational efficiency as part of the build.

TELIA is CareGo's patented facility optimization technology, designed to automate, optimize, and orchestrate heavy industry material handling equipment. In a TELIA-managed environment, material is moved, stored, and staged 24/7 – autonomously – allowing the facility to significantly improve storage capacity, increase throughput, and reduce risk in safety-critical areas of their operations.

The system will integrate seamlessly with Basic Metals' existing infrastructure, enabling smarter, data-driven decisions while being fully configured to meet the specific needs of their new facility.

"Basic Metals represents exactly the kind of partner we want to grow with. They’re a high-performing, operationally focused service center that is investing in its future," said Kurt Fowler, Chief Commercial Officer of CareGo. "Their commitment to operational excellence is evident and we're proud to be part of this expansion from day one. We look forward to a strong, long-term relationship as we help Basic Metals scale."

The project will be supported by Superior Cranes, who will be supplying equipment for the facility.

“As Basic Metals continues to grow, we are making strategic investments in automation and technology that will allow us to scale smarter, operate more efficiently, and better support our customers long term,” said Andy Fogel, President of Basic Metals. “The integration of CareGo’s TELIA system into our new Germantown expansion aligns with our vision of building one of the most advanced and operationally efficient service center campuses in North America. This technology will help us maximize our warehouse footprint, improve material flow, enhance workplace safety, and create a more efficient operation for both our employees and customers. This investment is about creating a stronger foundation for the future growth of our business.”
