August, 2026- Zaha Hadid Architects designed a five-pronged terminal building at Beijing Daxing International Airport, one of the largest airports in the world. The airport is arranged around a central courtyard with fi ve aircraft piers radiating directly out, which gives the building the appearance of a starfish from above. The roof is a large-span steel structure shaped in the form of a hyperboloid, and is supported by C-shaped columns that connect with the roof curvature. More than 170,000 steel sections were used. The facade includes aluminum rain screen decorative panels with a powder-coated bronze finish.
