Above: Vorteq’s expansive North American footprint covers a wide range of coating and processing capabilities
April, 2026- Vorteq has continued to grow its presence in the coil coated steel and aluminum market. Currently, the company has 10 continuous coil coating lines across North America, and for 10-plus years has been investing significant capital and bolstering experienced personnel in its Jackson, Tennessee, facility near Memphis. The Jackson facility is “the premier surface-critical, aluminum-only coil coating operation in the nation,” according to CEO, Jim Dockey.
As a wide-width, non-can-sheet, aluminum- only coil coater, the Jackson location “focuses on surface-critical products” for a wide range of markets, including cargo trailers, recreational vehicles, sign stock, pipe jacketing, lighting, architectural composite panels and architectural roofing, Dockey says.
INCREASED CAPACITY
To further expand capabilities in the building and construction markets, particularly in rainware (gutter and downspout) and trim coil, Vorteq is building a second coil coating line in Jackson. The new equipment has been relocated from the company’s Mexico operation and “re-engineered to improve efficiencies, quality and capability,” says Dockey. “It will be operational by mid-2026.”

The company offers customizable paint palettes and batch sizes to meet project specifications.
Along with the new coil coating line, Vorteq has installed a second slitter and a cut-tolength line, he continues. “The slitter will support the product mix coated on the new coil coating line, particularly for the rainware and screen frame markets; and the cut-to-length line offers a unique value-added service to Vorteq’s customers in a wide range of markets.”
With the addition of the new equipment, the Jackson plant will provide coil coating from two lines; slitting from two lines; embossing with multiple patterns, including directional stucco, nondirectional stucco, diamond and tread plate; cut-to-length sheeting services; and expansive warehousing space to store customers’ mill finish and painted inventory. It can apply a wide variety of coating types, including polyesters, PVDF coatings, epoxy coatings and print coat inks, Dockey says. “The second coating line was added to focus on the application of polyester coatings, primarily for the building and construction markets.”
CREATING A HUB
“This location has become the hub of Vorteq’s coating operations located from the East Coast to the West Coast,” Dockey says, pointing out that Vorteq Jackson’s dedicated focus on coating only aluminum, combined with surface-critical application expertise, allows it to support customers’ unique coating projects and product development efforts. “These include the design of print coats, tread plate embossing and the ability to paint OTemper aluminum.”

Despite its exponential growth, Vorteq still makes it a priority to focus on boutique-like service—the personal relationship with the customer.
“Our flexibility and customized service model allows our customers to shorten their lead times and efficiently manage their inventory requirements,” Dockey says. “Vorteq’s Jackson facility is positioned to support our customers across a wide range of aluminum markets. Its vast capabilities, expansive capacity and an unparalleled quality and service model makes it the undisputed leader in the domestic aluminum coil coating market,” he claims.
