April 2014 - Scrap choppers are an ideal way for companies to easily reduce their waste and disposal fees while adding re-sale value to their scrap.  

The Sweed scrap chopper model 450 DDX is the latest release from Sweed engineers in their line of scrap choppers; this unit replaces Sweed’s previous Model 450 WM XHD Dual Drive unit.

Features

The Model 450 DDX boasts robust power alongside a dual drive feedworks. Driving both feed rolls on the chopper allows the unit to process scrap quickly and efficiently, making it suitable for chopping common manufacturing scrap such as large amounts plastic strapping (even if in a tangled state), high volumes of ¾ in. steel metal banding with clips and light gauge baling wire.

The Model 450 DDX chopper features a 1 HP motor and added mass on the flywheel, which allows the scrap chopper additional cutting capacity. It is capable of feeding many scrap pieces at one time and feeds at approximately 120 FPM. The one stationary and one rotating knife, provide a cut length of about 3 in. The wide infeed on this chopper makes feeding an effortless task for the operator.

Options

The new 450 DDX is also very versatile, making it an excellent chopper to be customized for in-line productions such as slitter line and tube and pipe applications that require speed and tension control, or custom scrap cut lengths.

Accessories

The 450 DDX sits on a sturdy Sweed stand that moves from area to area on stout caster wheels and is designed to sit over a Sweed self-dumping hopper. Both the stand and the hopper are sold separately.
