TRUMPF to showcase newest laser technology products at Photonics West

January 29, 2018 - TRUMPF Inc. will feature its TruMicro 5370 and TruMicro 7380, Dira 200-5 and a TruLaser Station 5005 with a TruMicro 2030 laser system, in booth #817 at Photonics West. TRUMPF’s booth will be located in the south hall of the Mascone Center in San Francisco.

During the show, TRUMPF will introduce its global marketing campaign called “MyMarkingLaser.” This new initiative will present the latest advancements within the TRUMPF TruMark portfolio. This product line is used for many different applications within a wide-range of industries. From medical device traceability solutions within the medical device manufacturing industry, to marking parts on the assembly line in the automotive industry, TRUMPF works with customers to find the right machine for any applications.

TruMicro 5370 and TruMicro 7380

TRUMPF’s short and ultra-short pulsed lasers are the ideal solution for micro-processing. TruMicro lasers are well-suited for all standard processing methods such as cutting, drilling, ablating, annealing and structuring, and can be used for a wide range of materials. At Photonics West, TRUMPF will showcase the TruMicro 5370 and the TruMicro 7380 lasers. The TruMicro 5370 is the third generation of TRUMPF’s TruMicro 5000 series and delivers higher output power and pulse repetition rates. This machine sets a new standard for cost-effective UV micro-machining of various polymers and printed circuit board materials because of its combination of higher power and pulse repetition rates. The TruMicro 5370 also has excellent astigmatism, which delivers unbeatable beam roundness over the full confocal length. The TruMicro 7380 laser is optimized for use with line beam optics for laser lift off, photo bleaching and surface annealing applications. The laser delivers 400 watts of short pulse 343 nanometers output with high pulse energies. The optical output is specifically designed for optimum line beam homogeneity.

TruLaser Station 5005 with a TruMicro 2030 Laser System

The TruLaser Station 5005 will be on display and equipped with a TruMicro 2030 femtosecond laser. It is an entry-level system that offers a cost-effect and full-featured entry way into the world of ultra-fast laser micro-machining. This system specializes in small and medium-sized parts. The TruLaser Station 5005, including an integrated exhaust system, comes with a very low and convenient footprint of less than 10 square feet. The machine’s intuitive touch panel user interface makes the system easy to learn for operators. The laser machine is available as a standing or seated work station with powerful control software that is easy and intuitive to operate.

Dira 200-5

TRUMPF will also present the Dira 200-5 (disk regenerative amplifiers) laser amplifier. Originally designed as a pump laser for parametric amplification stages, the lasers of the Dira series deliver pulses of picosecond duration with up to 200 millijoule pulse energy - the highest pulse energy rate extracted from a regenerative amplifier available today. All Dira systems are based on the TRUMPF think-disk laser technology. The flexible design of the Dira series allows for the customization of systems according to a user’s requirements. One of the primary uses of the Dira 200-5 is to pump optical parametric amplifiers. The system comprises of a disk laser used as a pump source, in this case the Dira, a titanium sapphire oscillator used as the seed laser, the multistate optical parametric amplifier (OPA) system itself, and a synchronization unit. The seed pulse is amplified in multiple stages. Amplification occurs using a frequency mixing process known as parametric amplification, in which energy is transferred from the pump pulse to the seed pulse. While the Dira product range was specially developed for applications in the research sector, it can also be used in areas such as spectroscopy and industrial inspection. The machine creates the possibility of generating femtosecond pulses with just a few oscillations of the electric field, generally referred to as “few-cycle pulses.” These can then be used by scientists to produce even shorter pulses in the attosecond. Scientists working on basic research in medicine, biology or chemistry can use these attosecond pulses to capture and investigate highly dynamic movements of electrons on a molecular scale.

All TRUMPF equipment is designed for an industrial and highly-demanding manufacturing environment. With the proven TruTops software, operators easily connect with user-specific databases, control systems, existing databases and ERP systems to eliminate manual data entry and the associated risk of error. Integrating auxiliary devices, such as a barcode reader, is also simple.

The company will also hold a press conference on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. It will be held at TRUMPF’s booth. Company leadership will discuss the products showcased at the show, products not exhibited at the show that are currently in development and other recent corporate news.
