September 25, 2018 - In support of the growth of additive manufacturing research, TRUMPF has announced that it will hold a contest to consign TruPrint 1000 LMF (laser metal fusion) Systems. The TruPrint 1000, with its build volume of 100mm diameter and 100mm height and its 200W laser, is an ideal system for research given its compact footprint, open parameters, high resolution of printed parts, high processing speed and the simple and intuitive operation.

The contest will be open to colleges, universities and research institutes in North America. Up to three winners will be selected to receive a TruPrint 1000 for a period of 12 months. Within that time frame TRUMPF will provide those selected with training and support on the system. To apply, applicants must submit a paper explaining their research objectives if they were to receive a TruPrint system for their research lab. Deadline for submissions is December 15th, 2018.

Following the submission process, papers will be reviewed by a jury of TRUMPF experts and an industry representative. On the jury will be: Dr. April Cooke, Additive Manufacturing Specialist, TRUMPF Inc., Dr. Marcus Lau, Industry Manager, Scientific, TRUMPF Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH and Dr. David Saint John, Director of Innovation and Advanced Manufacturing, Linamar Corporation.
