December 2018 - French studio Peripheriques Marin+Trottin recently completed an apartment complex on L'Île-Saint-Denis in the northern suburbs of Paris. It features wavy balconies enclosed by a ribbon of perforated aluminum balustrades. The undulating form creates dedicated space outside each apartment and maintains a shared passage along the circumference of the building.
The development is situated on a plot overlooking the River Seine, whose embankments are undergoing significant redevelopment ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The apartment project forms part of the master plan to transform a site previously occupied by industrial buildings into the L'Île-Saint-Denis river eco-district.
