March 15, 2023- TW Metals (TW), a full-line specialty metals distributor, will break ground March 9th on an addition for a new material handling system at their Carol Stream, IL facility. The system is designed and will be built by Swiss-based warehouse logistics firm Fehr Inc. Fehr’s honeycomb shelving systems have been in use globally for over 50 years. TW’s custom-designed honeycomb will have a 25,000 square foot footprint and consist of a large steel racking structure, complete with exchangeable cassettes for storage of materials and high-speed cranes for safe, efficient, and consistent movement of material into and out of the system. The optimum use of available space for storage along with the reduced time in motion of materials will nearly double TW’s capacity to stock material and process customer orders. The total investment is $23,000,000 and will be operational in April 2024.

TW Metals has been a consistent employer in Carol Stream for over 50 years and currently has 115 team members. The Carol Stream facility has historically been the company’s highest volume producer of its 30 locations worldwide.
