The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) is pleased to announce that Jason Weber is joining the staff as Vice President of Government Affairs and Operations. Weber comes to AEC with more than 25 years of experience in the aluminum extrusion industry having previously held various positions with aluminum extrusion companies including Taber Extrusions, Alumax, Alcoa, Sapa and Hydro Extrusions North America.
Weber has experience in global sales, marketing, business development and manufacturing. His skills include working with internal and external partners to help drive product definitions, designs, strategic planning initiatives, and industry relationships to maximize revenue, improve customer experiences, enhancing brand value and the overall value of extrusions. As an active member of the AEC, Jason previously led volunteer efforts in market development, marketing, and industry promotion. Additionally, he has been an active participant in supporting the industry efforts in trade and government relations.
The AEC’s efforts in fair trade have grown tremendously over the past decade with more work expected in the coming months and years, necessitating the addition of a new position to fill a new role in government affairs and management. Conservatively, AEC estimates that 1.2 billion pounds per year of extrusions are being produced in the U. S. that would have otherwise been lost to China, but now bad actors from other foreign competitors are threatening those gains.
“Jason’s broad business management and government relations experience make him well suited to take on this new role within AEC,” said Jeff Henderson, AEC President. “With the Council’s growing role in trade efforts to save the North American Aluminum Extrusion Industry from unfair and illegal imports, additional staff support is needed. I have known Jason through my past career in the aluminum extrusion industry and know his talents and abilities will complement our current proficient staff.”
“I am beyond excited to join the staff of the AEC. I am looking forward to working on behalf of the aluminum extrusion industry to preserve, protect and improve this industry for future generations to come,” Weber said.
Weber will lead the Council’s efforts in government affairs and public policy issues, as well as support other AEC programs, including marketing and future staff liaison to the ET Seminar Committee, which organizes and produces the International Aluminum Extrusion Technology Seminar & Exposition, the aluminum industry’s premier technical conference held once every four years.
Supporting Jason in his role will be Nancy Molenda, VP of Communications who will assist with public and press relations, and Nancy Klein, Membership Services, Education and Technical Director, who will assist in an administrative role.
