Claus Gundlach, CEO of Ranger Steel Services, LP (Ranger Steel) headquartered in Houston, Texas, and Joel Elbaum, President of Nance Steel Sales, Inc., (Nance) headquartered in Detroit, Michigan, are pleased to announce the acquisition of the steel operation of Nance by Ranger. The new alliance entity, Nance Steel Sales, LLC, will be headquartered in Houston, TX and begin operations effective February 1, 2024. Nance will continue to maintain an office in the Detroit area along with the entire team remaining in place.

Nance is a very unique distributor, specializing in heavy plate, that began operations in 1971. Over 52 years, Nance earned its nationwide reputation to be the reliable heavy plate distributor in the US with stocking locations in Detroit, Chicago, East Liverpool, and Houston.

Ranger Steel, founded in 1958, is headquartered in Houston, TX, and has inventory locations in Houston, Tulsa, Fort Worth, and the Los Angeles Basin. Ranger Steel evolved over 65 years to become the largest privately owned steel plate distributor in North America.

The synergy created by further perfecting the product ranges offered by both Nance and Ranger Steel, coupled with the additional yard locations nationwide, will only serve to enhance opportunities to our mutual clientele.
