U.S. OLYMPIC & PARALYMPIC MUSEUM

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO- Honored with a Design Award of Excellence from the Colorado chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 2021, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum focuses on the core values of the Olympic and Paralympic movements: friendship, respect and excellence; determination, equality, inspiration and courage. Anderson Mason Dale Architects, design architect Diller Scofifidio + Renfro and exhibition designer Gallagher & Associates drew inspiration from the athletes’ energy and grace to create a 60,000-square-foot fully accessible space that uses 12 galleries to take guests through the journey of Team USA members. The building’s façade is characterized as “folded with ruptures”—a spiraling form that includes four volumes made of over 9,000 folded, anodized, diamond-shaped aluminum panels.
