CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA- David Černý was commissioned to create Metalmorphosis in 2007 for the American Asset Association. The mirror-like sculpture stands 25 feet tall and comprises 14 tons of stainless steel. The eerie unadorned exterior is made of seven motorized layers that rotate 360 degrees, carefully choreographed by an internal computer that ensures no movement is identical. As it rotates, the sculpture spits water out of its mouth into a pool below. The sculpture now resides in front of the Whitehall Corporate Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
