BLM GROUP Launches AI-Powered Tube Bending Assistant

BLM GROUP USA introduced VGP_AI, an artificial intelligence service that helps manufacturers establish tube bending parameters before production begins. Integrated into the company's VGPNext programming software, VGP_AI automatically recommends process settings based on the part geometry and material, reducing the trial-and-error typically associated with machine setup. The technology is designed to support both experienced and newer operators, with particular benefits for those still building their programming experience or tackling more complex bending operations.

Developed using decades of BLM GROUP tube bending expertise and application knowledge, VGP_AI analyzes a part's geometry and material to recommend an initial set of bending parameters before production begins. Operators review the recommendation and decide whether to accept, modify or reject it, maintaining full control of the process while reducing the time typically spent setting up a new job.

"VGP_AI puts bending expertise directly into the hands of every operator, so programming a tube bender no longer requires years of hands-on experience," said Matt Irwin, product manager, tube and wire forming products at BLM GROUP USA. "It helps operators establish an accurate starting point more quickly, allowing them to spend less time on setup and more time producing parts. The software provides intelligent recommendations, but the operator always has full control over the final outcome."

BLM GROUP developed VGP_AI to become more capable over time through ongoing refinement of its AI model. Because the service is managed within BLM GROUP's software environment, improvements are delivered centrally while customer data remains protected within the company's secure infrastructure.

The introduction of VGP_AI reflects the continued investment by BLM GROUP in advancing tube-bending technology. By combining artificial intelligence with decades of tube-bending expertise, BLM GROUP is making advanced application knowledge more accessible while helping manufacturers bring new jobs into production with greater confidence.
