The third edition of the GIFA and METEC 2026 trade fairs in Jakarta brought featured 260 exhibitors from some 20 countries and attracted over 6,000 trade visitors, advancing dialogue on decarbonization, smart manufacturing, circularity and downstream value creation, while introducing aluminum as a new strategic focus.
The events were jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia and PT Pamerindo Indonesia and had the support of Messe Düsseldorf’s Bright World of Metals portfolio which includes the industry’s leading foundry and metallurgy trade fairs GIFA and METEC in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Held concurrently with Mining Indonesia this year, the exhibitions drew trade buyers, engineers, industrial managers, national industry associations, reaffirming their standing as the region's central platform for foundry technology, metallurgy, steelmaking, and specialized metal processing.
“What mattered most to us at GIFA and METEC Indonesia this year was seeing those direct conversations actually happen on the floor. Owners of smelters, foundries, aluminum processors and technology providers working through the practical challenges of lifting productivity, quality and added-value creation in the downstream sector, while measuring their own operations against what the rest of the world is doing. That is exactly the kind of collaboration Indonesia's metals value chain needs as it moves into its next phase of growth, and it's what Messe Düsseldorf Asia and our partner Pamerindo will continue to facilitate as we build a stronger next edition,” said Lars Wismer, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia.
“Through GIFA and METEC Indonesia 2026, we connect local producers with global innovations in automation and green metallurgy, helping the nation build a resilient, future-ready industrial foundation,” stated Lia Indriasari, Country General Manager of PT Pamerindo Indonesia. The two trade fairs served as a practical execution platform, enabling domestic producers to enhance productivity through knowledge exchange and the acquisition of state-of-the-art technology.
Indonesia's evolving industrial landscape provides the impetus for GIFA and METEC Indonesia. As domestic manufacturing expands across the automotive, infrastructure, heavy equipment, and renewable energy sectors, the biennial trade fairs connect the latest international metal processing technology with local foundries and metallurgical plants.
GIFA and METEC 2026 specifically highlighted Decarbonization and Energy Efficiency, Smart Factory and AI as well as Circular Economy and Future Technologies. A new thematic focus was aluminum. As a niche extension of the foundry and metallurgical value chain, it connects upstream processes such as melting and alloying with downstream applications, including fabrication and recycling. It's a deliberate first step, setting the stage for a dedicated Aluminum Pavilion in 2028 that will comprehensively address the industry's full value-chain needs.
The next edition of GIFA and METEC Indonesia will return to the Jakarta International Expo in September 2028. For information on visiting or exhibiting at GIFA and METEC Indonesia 2028, contact Messe Düsseldorf North America; Telephone: (312) 781-5180; E-mail:
