McNeilus Steel, Inc., located in Dodge Center, Minnesota, recently installed a Red Bud Industries .750” (19 mm) x 84” (2134 mm) x 80,000 lb. (36,000 kg) Heavy Gauge Cut-To-Length Line with a 40’ (12 m) T3 Stretcher Leveler at their Morrison, TN facility. The hybrid system has the ability to operate in start/stop mode when running thicker materials and in looping mode for .375” (9.5 mm) thinner material. Loop mode significantly increases productivity and throughput while stretching.
The new line features Red Bud’s Pop Top Precision Straightener. This unit allows the top crown and work rolls to be opened with a push of a button for cleaning or maintenance. In addition, the Prime Shear includes a quick-change blade feature that minimizes downtime during blade changes. The Stretcher Leveler also includes a powered gripper extraction system. Although the grippers typically do not require changing for up to a year or more, the extraction system further minimizes downtime when the grippers are changed.
The new equipment consists of a Dual Stub Uncoiler, Peeler, Pop Top Precision Straightener, Rotating Brush Dust Collector System, Thread System, 40’ (12m) T3 Stretcher Leveler, Servo Roll Feed, Variable Rake Shear with quick change blades, a 40’ (12 m) Heavy Gauge Drop Stacker, and Floor Rollout Conveyors.
