The Material Works, Ltd. (TMW) has begun a $35 million expansion project centered around the world’s first integrated stretcher-leveler cut-to-length and pickling line. The line will process 1” x 84” 90,000-pound coils, combining pickling and plate cut-to-length processing in a single operation.
Scheduled to begin operations in early 2029, the line will be housed in a brand-new 104,000-square-foot facility in Red Bud, Illinois. This new operation will be adjacent to TMW Plant 1 located on the Kaskaskia River for direct barge unloading.
The pickling section will utilize TMW’s patented Eco Pickled Surface (EPS) technology, an acid-free alternative to conventional pickling. Red Bud Industries (RBI) will manufacture the stretcher-leveler CTL portion. The line will be the largest of TMW’s eight processing lines and its second EPS operation in Red Bud, IL.
TMW has operated in Red Bud, IL since 1992 and, with the addition of Plant 3, will have 515,000 square feet of plant space.
